I got the job!
It's My Store
For those of you who know me personally, you know that we have been hoping and praying for this particular job opportunity for awhile now, and it has come to fruition, more so than we could have dreamed. So, beginning in September, we will begin our U-Haul guided trip to the bountiful state of Idaho, where my official title will be "Web User Interface Designer" for the internal site of Albertsons.com.
We will be renting an apartment not 5 minutes from the Albertsons HQ, which is gigundous (a word coined by a college friend, meaning giant + enormous). If you don't believe me, check out this aerial photo from Google Maps (close the bubble, and it's the big building underneath). So, needless to say, I'm more than a little bit excited about this opportunity.
First of all, it's a great job, simply put. From what I'm told, Albertsons takes care of their people. I guess this is to be expected, being that it is the 2nd largest grocery chain in the nation, and is a Fortune 50 company. Secondly (and only in 2nd by a smidgen), I am psyched to work with and learn from Cody Lindley, who is one of the designers listed on the sidebar that I respect. He is a Christian, went to the University of Idaho which is only 8 miles east of my old school WSU, and is a published contributing author of Byte Sized Flash. And to top it all off, he uses Textpattern, so what's not to like?
So, please pray for my wife and I as we attempt to sell all our non-essentials, pack up the rest, and drive cross-country to our new home. I especially want to thank all my friends and professors who have impacted my life so much during my time at seminary. I'll be keeping in touch with most of you via email, and will still be taking online classes to finish up my MDiv.
Ad majorem Dei gloriam.
