Going to SXSW
Anticipating Austin
Well, I did it. I logged on to Alaska Air's website (which sucks), and bought my tickets, then hopped over to the South by Southwest site and booked my badge for the Interactive Festival. I will be traveling with a co-worker and am looking foward to hearing all the great speakers, as well as meeting all the people that will be there from the 9rules Network. All in all, it should be a great experience.
If you're curious as to what goes down at these shin-digs, check out the website for last year's 2005 SXSW Festival. One of the big things that happened last March is that Shaun Inman, author of the famed stat-tracking system Mint, won the best blog award for 2005.
This year, my cohort Bryan Veloso, interaction designer for Facebook, hopes to take home the trophy for his award-winning blog and portfolio site Avalonstar. It's been rumored that James Archer will be giving a presentation. I'll for sure be there if it ends up happening.
If you're also going, let me know, and we can grab some coffee and shoot the breeze. Ever the penny-pincher that I am, I'll be staying at the Hampton Inn, and not the Hilton which is where the conference is being held. It's only three blocks away however, so I still hope to be one of the "cool kids" and get to meet everyone. If you can't tell, I'm pretty excited. See y'all in March of '06!
