Design Spectacle
I am pleased to announce that Design-Spectacle.com has gone live. This is the single page portfolio site of my coworker Hugh Griffith, who is the Senior Web User Interface Designer here at Albertson's, recently acquired by SuperValu Inc. I work daily under his scrutiny guidance on the Design Services team, and we have also collaborated on a few side projects.
At the risk of sounding too sappy, let me say that I consider myself fortunate to be able to work with Hugh, because he is an amazing visual designer. I have learned quite a bit from him since I started with Albertson's this past September. Not only that, but having to code his crazy design creations in XHTML and CSS has forced me to think beyond the status quo. For instance, it was because of one of his comps that I came up with the Hoverbox method.
He of course designed and coded the entirety of Design Spectacle himself. On this portfolio site, he is using the hip new Thickbox JavaScript written by our former coworker Cody Lindley, who is now at Micron.
Anyway, I digress. You should go check Hugh's portfolio for some really nice work. If you have time to kill, you could also read this interview with him at Vancouver Film School. Suffice it to say, if you are at a company looking for a strong visual designer with an eye for detail even Andy Rutledge would appreciate, then Design-Spectacle.com should be on your must-see list.
