My Leadership Style
The following is a brief essay I wrote for a seminary class, based on personal life experience. The assignment was to discuss one’s own leadership style.
I believe that my personal leadership style has a lot to do with my personality type: Extraverted iNtuitive Thinking Judging. As an ENTJ, I initially struggled with my sense of calling.
Symphonic Leadership
For an assignment in my last seminary class before I graduate, we had to discuss with other students what key functions are provided by effective leaders. One of my classmates cited a radio interview with Maestro Lorin Maazel, retired conductor of the N.Y. Philharmonic.

My definition of a leader is someone who is “in the trenches.” A leader is often thought of as someone who sends others to fight for his cause. The true model of leadership is found in the inverse: someone who is willing to die for those s/he leads.
Urban Leadership
I’ve been meaning to blog this for awhile, but I keep forgetting. Recently, I put together a presentation for our final group project in CL617 – Urban Leadership. We used a brief interview with the pastor of my church The Rock / La Roca UMC, as well as a music slideshow at the end. The guys from my group had really great stuff to say in our presentation, and Dale came up with the cool name “Team Fujo” (fujo means chaos in Swahili).
